A Comprehensive Guide on Linear Lighting

Product & Lighting FAQs

What types of linear lights do you offer?

We offer a wide range of indoor linear lighting solutions, primarily for ceilings, with many products manufactured in the UK at our Greater Manchester production facility.

Because we produce many of our lights in-house, we can offer hundreds of variants to suit your requirements, including:

  • Dimmable options
  • Emergency lighting
  • Different colour temperatures
  • Various lengths, shapes, and diffusers (helping achieve excellent UGR ratings)

Our linear lights are commonly used in offices, gyms, cafes, bars, homes, kitchens, hotels, and other commercial and residential spaces.

We offer a mix of standard and bespoke options. If you have a specific design in mind, our team can create your perfect light. Additionally, we provide a complimentary lighting design service for projects that can benefit from professional planning.

Beyond linear lights, we can also provide a complete lighting package, including emergency lights, downlights, and more, with products available through acousticlights.co.uk and yourlights.co.uk.

Are your lights custom-made or standard?

We offer both standard and custom-made lighting.

  • Some products, like our Skyline range, come in standard sizes.
  • Most of our lights such as our Curva and Proline ranges are manufactured at our Greater Manchester headquarters, allowing us to create bespoke solutions tailored to your needs.

If you require a specific length, lighting optic, shape, or other details, our lighting design team can work with you to create a custom solution.

We have hundreds of product variants that can’t all be listed on our website. If you’re looking for something specific, simply enquire with us and we’ll provide a no-obligation quote.

Do you offer dimmable options? Which systems are compatible?

Yes we have several dimmable options for most of our products including the Curva, Proline and Stellarope ranges. Please contact us if you would like us to quote for a dimmable option. Some of the options we can offer are mains dimming, DALI,  DSI, Mains, 0-10V. We can also offer Casambi systems with dimming.

How do I choose the correct colour temperature?

Choosing the right colour temperature depends on the style of light you want and the purpose of the room. Colour temperature is measured in Kelvin (K) and affects whether the space feels warm and relaxing or bright and functional:

  • 2700K to 3000K
Warm white light. Creates a soft and inviting atmosphere. Best for living rooms, bedrooms, restaurants, and hospitality spaces.
  • 4000K
Neutral white light. Provides a clean, balanced look. Ideal for kitchens, offices, hallways, and most general home or commercial areas.
  • 5000K and above Cool daylight-style light. Helps with focus and visibility. Commonly used in workshops, warehouses, hospitals, and task lighting applications.

What is an IP rating?

An IP rating (Ingress Protection rating) shows how well a light fixture is protected against dust and water. It is written as IP followed by two numbers, for example, IP65.

  • First digit (0–6)
Indicates protection against solid particles, such as dust.
  • Second digit (0–9)
Indicates protection against moisture and water, from light splashes to full immersion.

A higher IP rating means better protection, which is important for bathrooms, kitchens, outdoor areas, and any environment where moisture or dust is present. You can find the IP rating for each of our products on the product pages under the ‘Specification’ dropdown, alternatively you can download the products datasheet.

Do the linear lights come with a warranty?

Our Standard lights warranty for all products is 5 years. Our Emergency lights warranty for all emergency lights is 3 years.
