Product FAQs

What is inwards facing LED lighting and how is it used in commercial interiors UK?

Inwards facing LED lighting directs light toward the centre of the fitting's arc rather than downward onto a floor or work surface. The effect is fundamentally different from a standard downward pendant. Instead of illuminating what is below, it creates a glowing ring or arc effect that is visible as a lit form, making the fitting itself the visual subject rather than the surfaces it lights. In commercial interiors this is used to create atmospheric feature installations in reception areas, office breakout zones, restaurant ceilings, and hotel spaces where the lighting is part of the interior design rather than purely functional. Linear Lights stocks the Flow inwards arc, a 90-degree curved LED module with inwards lighting direction, available in white or black in 3000K or 4000K, surface mounted, suspended, or wall mounted for vertical feature applications.

What is the best curved LED light for creating a feature wall or ceiling installation in a commercial office or hospitality space UK?

For feature walls and ceiling installations in commercial spaces, a curved arc LED module gives designers a building block that can be combined into virtually any organic or geometric configuration. A 90-degree arc used alone creates a simple quarter circle. Multiple arcs combined create full rings, overlapping circles, wave patterns, or bespoke organic forms. When wall mounted vertically, the same module creates a flowing feature on a flat surface, which is particularly effective in reception areas, restaurant walls, and office social zones where a plain wall would otherwise be left unlighted. The key advantage over a fixed circular or linear pendant is the creative flexibility to define the shape from scratch rather than selecting from a catalogue of pre-set forms.

Can curved LED arc modules be combined to create custom ceiling or wall shapes in a commercial fit-out UK?

Yes, and this is the primary reason the Flow arc system is specified in commercial projects where standard products cannot achieve the required design. Four 90-degree arc modules combine to form a complete ring. Two modules create a semicircle. Mixed combinations of arcs and straight Flow modules produce S-curves, wave patterns, and irregular organic forms that are entirely unique to the project. The lighting direction can also be mixed within the same installation, combining inwards-facing arcs for atmospheric effect with downwards-facing modules for functional illumination. Linear Lights offers a free lighting design service including 3D visualisations for projects using the Flow system, which is recommended before ordering multiple modules to confirm the layout and lumen balance across the full installation.
